Private transfer Prague to Český Krumlov
Solid Transfers — solid-transfers.com

We drive both ways: Prague → Český Krumlov and Český Krumlov → Prague. There is no fast direct train to Český Krumlov — by car it is two and a quarter hours with no changes at all.
The route in numbers
Distance — approximately 175 km by road
Driving time — about 2 hours 15 minutes of driving, without stops
Cars — Mercedes-Benz E-Class estate (1–3 passengers) or V-Class (up to 7 passengers)
Why by car
The train goes via České Budějovice with a change onto a local line and takes around three and a half hours. Coaches run direct but stop on the edge of town and fill up in season. A car takes you right to your accommodation in the old town, where traffic is otherwise restricted.
A stop on the way
Hluboká nad Vltavou and České Budějovice both lie on the way and can easily be combined into the trip. For day returns we agree whether the driver waits or comes back later; waiting on these trips is agreed individually by its length, so a rough estimate up front pays off.
And the same in reverse
Český Krumlov to Prague works the same, including a run straight to the airport if you are flying onwards. One booking covers both legs.
What it costs
The price follows our price list, is calculated from the actual road distance and is agreed in advance as a fixed sum — there is no meter. It includes fuel, motorway tolls in the Czech Republic and standard luggage.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class estate — base fare 800 CZK incl. VAT including the first 20 km, 36 CZK per km up to 150 km and 30 CZK per km beyond
Mercedes-Benz V-Class — base fare 921 CZK incl. VAT including the first 20 km, 46 CZK per km up to 150 km and 38 CZK per km beyond
From our price list this route works out at 6 230 CZK incl. VAT in the E-Class estate, 7 851 CZK incl. VAT in the V-Class — one way. The empty return leg is not charged.
The exact amount for your particular pick-up address is worked out by the calculator on the home page, which also allows for current traffic. The full price list is on the Price list page.
Day trip: back the same day
If you return on the same day, the return leg is charged at 50 % of the outbound fare — you have the driver for the whole day and waiting is not counted by the hour, it is included. If you return on another day, both legs are charged in full, because the driver drives back empty in the meantime and comes out for you again. The calculator works out both options — just choose when you are coming back.
Worth seeing in Český Krumlov
The town has been a UNESCO site since 1992 and can be seen in half a day — the historic core lies inside a bend of the Vltava and is so small it is hard to get lost in. From the castle tower you look down on that bend; the castle also has its gardens and a revolving auditorium.
The castle's baroque theatre survives complete with its original stage machinery, sets and costumes — only a handful like it exist anywhere, and it is played only a few times a year. The Five-Petalled Rose Festival fills the town in June, booked out days ahead. In summer the worst crush is around midday; leaving Prague early gets you there while it is still empty.
Bears have been kept in the castle moat since the 16th century — they are still there, with keepers of their own. Krumlov is also a starting point for canoe trips down the Vltava; in summer the boats pass through town one after another. The painter Egon Schiele spent two seasons here before the townspeople drove him out — today a gallery bears his name.
The castle is the second largest in the country after Prague Castle — forty buildings around five courtyards. The Eggenberg brewery has been brewing since 1560 and can be toured. And because the town sits in a bend of the river, you can walk its ramparts right round with the Vltava never far away.
