Private transfer Prague to Vienna
Solid Transfers — solid-transfers.com

We drive both ways: Prague → Vienna and Vienna → Prague. Vienna is the nearest foreign capital to Prague and a car gets you there in an afternoon — door to door, with no stations and no check-in.
The route in numbers
Distance — approximately 330 km by road
Driving time — about 3 hours 30 minutes of driving, without stops
Cars — Mercedes-Benz E-Class estate (1–3 passengers) or V-Class (up to 7 passengers)
Why by car
The train takes about four hours, plus getting to the main station in Prague and onwards from Wien Hauptbahnhof. Flying makes no sense at this distance — by the time you have checked in, the car is nearly there. And in the car you can work, sleep or stop wherever you like.
The route
Normally along the D1 motorway to Brno and on via Mikulov to the Austrian A5. The road runs through the open countryside of South Moravia and the Weinviertel and there is plenty of space for a coffee or lunch stop — just tell the driver. The border is a Schengen one, so it is not normally a stop, but you still need valid documents.
And the same in reverse
We also drive from Vienna to Prague — pick-up at an address, a hotel or Schwechat airport. The price works the same way and both legs can be booked at once.
Tolls and charges
Austria charges a motorway vignette. Tolls outside the Czech Republic are billed separately under our price list and we state them in the confirmation. For journeys leaving the Czech Republic, payment of the agreed price in advance is a condition of carriage, at the latest 24 hours before pick-up.
What it costs
The price follows our price list, is calculated from the actual road distance and is agreed in advance as a fixed sum — there is no meter. It includes fuel, motorway tolls in the Czech Republic and standard luggage.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class estate — base fare 800 CZK incl. VAT including the first 20 km, 36 CZK per km up to 150 km and 30 CZK per km beyond
Mercedes-Benz V-Class — base fare 921 CZK incl. VAT including the first 20 km, 46 CZK per km up to 150 km and 38 CZK per km beyond
From our price list this route works out at 10 880 CZK incl. VAT in the E-Class estate, 13 741 CZK incl. VAT in the V-Class — one way. The empty return leg is not charged.
The exact amount for your particular pick-up address is worked out by the calculator on the home page, which also allows for current traffic. The full price list is on the Price list page.
Day trip: back the same day
For journeys outside the Czech Republic the return leg is 50 % of the outbound fare, provided you return the same day and the driver waits no more than six hours — on a long-distance run he drives back empty anyway. For longer waiting or a return on another day, the agreed waiting rate applies; we settle it in advance and state it in the booking confirmation. The calculator gives you the price.
Worth seeing in Vienna
Vienna was the Habsburg seat for six hundred years and it shows: the winter Hofburg in the middle of the city, the summer Schönbrunn with its park and gloriette, and the Ringstrasse encircling the old town where the walls once stood. The Kunsthistorisches Museum holds the largest Bruegel collection in the world.
The Viennese coffee house is on the UNESCO list of intangible heritage — the whole point is that you sit for hours over one cup and nobody moves you on. From late November until Christmas the advent markets fill the squares and traffic in the centre thickens; for a day trip it pays to leave early.
Vienna is known for the Sachertorte, whose true recipe two confectioners fought over in court for seven years, and for the Lipizzaner stallions of the Spanish Riding School, shown in a hall built for them alone. Klimt's The Kiss hangs in the Belvedere, the Philharmonic play the New Year's Concert here, and Freud's consulting room on Berggasse is a short walk from the centre — psychoanalysis began there.
In the Prater funfair the giant ferris wheel has turned since 1897, made famous by the film The Third Man. The Vienna Boys' Choir, founded in 1498, sings here, and every February the State Opera holds the Opera Ball, for which the auditorium is rebuilt into a ballroom. Beyond the city lie Klosterneuburg and the vineyards, where young wine is poured in taverns called Heuriger.
In December: Austrian Christmas markets and Krampus runs — a day trip from Prague, back the same day for half the outbound fare.
