Why by car
The train to Olomouc is fast and comfortable, but with luggage or as a group the cost of the tickets soon matches the price of the car — and the car goes door to door. For meetings in Šternberk or the villages around, the car is the obvious choice.
The route
Along the D1 to Brno and on along the D35, or via Hradec Králové and the D35 all the way. The driver chooses according to traffic; the D1 tends to jam near Humpolec.
And the same in reverse
We drive Olomouc → Prague just as often as the other way round. Both legs can be booked together, and in between the driver either waits or drives back — whichever works out cheaper.
What it costs
The price follows our price list, is calculated from the actual road distance and is agreed in advance as a fixed sum — there is no meter. It includes fuel, motorway tolls in the Czech Republic and standard luggage.

From our price list this route works out at 9 380 CZK incl. VAT in the E-Class estate, 11 841 CZK incl. VAT in the V-Class — one way. The empty return leg is not charged.

Day trip: back the same day
If you return on the same day, the return leg is charged at 50 % of the outbound fare — you have the driver for the whole day and waiting is not counted by the hour, it is included. If you return on another day, both legs are charged in full, because the driver drives back empty in the meantime and comes out for you again. The calculator works out both options — just choose when you are coming back.
Worth seeing in Olomouc
The Holy Trinity Column on the Upper Square has been a UNESCO site since 2000 — it is 35 metres tall and has a chapel inside, which is unheard of for a plague column. Olomouc has the second largest historic preservation area in the Czech Republic after Prague, and six Baroque fountains that, unlike in other towns, were never removed. Its astronomical clock is one of a kind: in the 1950s it was rebuilt in socialist-realist style, so instead of saints a worker, a chemist and a footballer parade past. Olomouc tvarůžky are the only traditional Czech cheese with EU protected status, made in nearby Loštice. St Wenceslas Cathedral has the tallest church tower in Moravia, 100 metres. The pilgrimage hill of Svatý Kopeček is a short drive away and the Jeseníky mountains about an hour — winter trips to Karlova Studánka, known for its exceptionally clean air, are a regular run.
