Prague – Pilsen

We drive both ways: Prague → Pilsen and Pilsen → Prague. One hour on the D5 and you are at the door — no change at the station and no hunting for parking in the centre.

The route in numbers

Distance — approximately 95 km by road

Driving time — approximately 1 hour 5 minutes of driving without stops

Vehicles — Mercedes-Benz E-Class estate (1–3 passengers) or V-Class (up to 7 passengers)

Why by car

Trains and buses run often and cheaply, but they end at the station. If you are heading for the Borská pole industrial zone, the brewery or a meeting somewhere outside the city, a car gets you there sooner than public transport plus a taxi — and you can work or sleep on the way.

The route

Along the D5 motorway via Beroun and Rokycany. The whole route is motorway, so the time is predictable; only the morning queue leaving Prague can hold things up.

And the same in reverse

We drive Pilsen → Prague just as often as the other way round. Both legs can be booked together, and in between the driver either waits or drives back — whichever works out cheaper.

What it costs

The price follows our price list, is calculated from the actual road distance and is agreed in advance as a fixed sum — there is no meter. It includes fuel, motorway tolls in the Czech Republic and standard luggage.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class estate — base fare 800 CZK incl. VAT including the first 20 km, 36 CZK per km up to 150 km and 30 CZK per km beyond

Mercedes-Benz V-Class — base fare 921 CZK incl. VAT including the first 20 km, 46 CZK per km up to 150 km and 38 CZK per km beyond

From our price list this route works out at 3 500 CZK incl. VAT in the E-Class estate, 4 371 CZK incl. VAT in the V-Class — one way. The empty return leg is not charged.

The exact amount for your particular pick-up address is worked out by the calculator on the home page, which also allows for current traffic. The full price list is on the Price list page.

Day trip: back the same day

If you return on the same day, the return leg is charged at 50 % of the outbound fare — you have the driver for the whole day and waiting is not counted by the hour, it is included. If you return on another day, both legs are charged in full, because the driver drives back empty in the meantime and comes out for you again. The calculator works out both options — just choose when you are coming back.

Worth seeing in Pilsen

In 1842 the Pilsner Urquell brewery brewed the world's first pale lager, and you can still walk through the historic cellars where the beer matures in oak lagering casks; it is tasted unfiltered straight from them. St Bartholomew's Cathedral has the tallest church tower in the Czech Republic — 102 metres and 301 steps to the top. The Great Synagogue is the second largest in Europe. More than twenty kilometres of medieval passages run beneath the old town, and part of them is open to visitors. Techmania Science Center, in a former Škoda factory hall, keeps children and adults entertained alike. If you are going to football or ice hockey, you will be heading for the Doosan Arena or the Logspeed Arena — we can stop right at the entrance of either, which on match day counts for more than usual.
