Private transfer Prague to Salzburg
Solid Transfers — solid-transfers.com

We drive both ways: Prague → Salzburg and Salzburg → Prague. Three and a half hours to the gateway of the Alps — for the festival, for skiing, or on the way further into Austria.
The route in numbers
Distance — approximately 375 km by road
Driving time — approximately 3 hours 35 minutes of driving without stops
Vehicles — Mercedes-Benz E-Class estate (1–3 passengers) or V-Class (up to 7 passengers)
Why by car
There is no direct train from Prague to Salzburg; with a change in Linz or Vienna it takes over six hours. By car it is half that, and with skis or with children it is incomparably simpler.
The route
Via Písek and České Budějovice to Linz and then along the Austrian A1, or via Plzeň and Bavaria — depending on traffic and the season.
And the same in reverse
We also drive Salzburg → Prague — pick-up at an address, at your hotel or at Salzburg Airport. The price is calculated the same way and both legs can be booked together.
Tolls and charges
Austria charges a vignette for its motorways and a special toll on some sections. Tolls outside the Czech Republic are billed separately according to our price list and stated in the booking confirmation. For journeys leaving the Czech Republic, payment of the agreed price in advance is a condition, at the latest 24 hours before pick-up.
What it costs
The price follows our price list, is calculated from the actual road distance and is agreed in advance as a fixed sum — there is no meter. It includes fuel, motorway tolls in the Czech Republic and standard luggage.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class estate — base fare 800 CZK incl. VAT including the first 20 km, 36 CZK per km up to 150 km and 30 CZK per km beyond
Mercedes-Benz V-Class — base fare 921 CZK incl. VAT including the first 20 km, 46 CZK per km up to 150 km and 38 CZK per km beyond
From our price list this route works out at 12 230 CZK incl. VAT in the E-Class estate, 15 451 CZK incl. VAT in the V-Class — one way. The empty return leg is not charged.
The exact amount for your particular pick-up address is worked out by the calculator on the home page, which also allows for current traffic. The full price list is on the Price list page.
Day trip: back the same day
For journeys outside the Czech Republic the return leg is 50 % of the outbound fare, provided you return the same day and the driver waits no more than six hours — on a long-distance run he drives back empty anyway. For longer waiting or a return on another day, the agreed waiting rate applies; we settle it in advance and state it in the booking confirmation. The calculator gives you the price.
Worth seeing in Salzburg
Mozart was born at Getreidegasse 9 and the house is now a museum, complete with his childhood violin. The Hohensalzburg fortress above the town is one of the largest surviving castles in Europe and was never taken — it has stood since 1077. Hellbrunn Palace has trick fountains built by an archbishop in the 17th century: hidden jets in the table and in the seats still soak guests, and the guide still sets them off. The Sound of Music was filmed here, and Americans come for themed tours that most locals know nothing about. In summer the Salzburg Festival doubles accommodation prices. In winter the city is the gateway to the ski resorts — Zell am See or Flachau are an hour away and we drive there regularly, skis and snowboards included.
In December: Austrian Christmas markets and Krampus runs — a day trip from Prague, back the same day for half the outbound fare.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a private transfer from Prague to Salzburg?
The price is for the whole car, not per person: 12 230 CZK in a Mercedes E-Class for one to three passengers and 15 451 CZK in a V-Class for up to seven, VAT included. You do not pay for the empty drive back. The only extra is the Austrian motorway vignette, which we bill separately and list in your booking confirmation. The figure is from central Prague; the calculator works it out for your address.
How long does it take, and can we stop on the way?
The drive itself takes about three and a half hours. On a journey this long we stop for a break anyway, and any other time you ask. For an extra stop, a walk around Linz for instance, use the Stop on the way field when you book and we confirm the price with it in advance.
Why do journeys abroad have to be paid in advance?
For every journey outside the Czech Republic we ask for payment at least 24 hours before pick-up, usually by card online when you book. The driver covers hundreds of kilometres for you and normally drives back empty, so we need to know the trip is definitely on. If your plans change more than 24 hours before, cancellation is free and you get the full amount back.
What documents do we need?
Every passenger, children included, needs a valid passport or national ID card and is responsible for their own documents. Borders inside Schengen are normally crossed without stopping, but random checks do happen. Travellers without EU citizenship need a passport and, where required, a Schengen visa.
Do you have child seats, and will our luggage fit?
Child seats are free: a seat or booster for children from 9 kg; just give the children's ages when you book. We do not have infant carriers yet. How many suitcases fit depends on their size and the number of passengers. List them in your booking and we will tell you in the confirmation whether the E-Class is enough or the V-Class is the better choice.
Can we stop in Český Krumlov on the way?
Yes, Krumlov is just off the route through České Budějovice and the detour is short. Put it in the Stop on the way field when you book and we confirm the price with it in advance.
